Agricultural drones

Drones are suitable for agricultural applications such as the analysis of plant growth and condition, the targeted application of pesticides, the monitoring of animal populations or the search for fawns. Additional devices such as multispectral cameras, thermal imaging cameras, high-resolution clear image cameras, spray devices and dosing devices are used.

How do applications work in agriculture?

The drone is operated with multispectral cameras, Thermal imaging cameras or clear image cameras, which record the image data and send it to the ground station. Spray devices or dosing devices can be installed to apply liquids and substances. The flight route can be flown manually or under computer control. Current additional devices can be controlled from the ground station and readjusted to the respective environmental conditions.

What can the technology do?

Multispectral imaging, thermal imaging, and high resolution images are excellent tools for inspecting and monitoring plants and animal populations. Deviations from the target state can be determined with comparatively little effort and targeted measures can be taken, e.g. the application of pesticides.

What equipment do i need?

What is needed is a drone that can be equipped with clear image cameras, thermal imaging cameras or multispectral cameras as required. Dispensing devices for liquids (spray devices) or pellets can be attached to larger drones. The collected data is evaluated by viewing the image material or using specific error detection software. Specific training or an examination are not required, although we recommend setting up and carrying out appropriate processes for training and maintaining the equipment fleet. The correct recording and evaluation of thermal images and multispectral images can also be quite demanding and prior knowledge is recommended in order to achieve meaningful results. Relevant decision-making criteria when choosing the right drone and software are previous knowledge and the specific application.
